The 318th ‘Khalsa Panth Foundation Day’ also known as ‘Baisakhi’ was celebrated on a grand scale by the Sikh community in Nankana Sahib. Sikhs from all over the world participated in this grand festival. Along with Nagar Kirtan other events were performed. One of the most prominent is Gatka event, this event is traditional Sikh martial arts and tied with in religion.
It is weapon based marital art which was imparted to Sikhs in the time of Sri Guru Hargobind Ji by the Rajpoots in 16th century in gratitude for their release from prison by the Sikh army of that time, wearing warrior uniform.
