New Year celebration according to the Nanak Shahi Calender (549)
The New Year is celebrated in the Gurdwara Janam Asthan Nankana Sahib according to the Nanak Shahi calendar (549). Mr. Imran Gondal (Dept. Sectory ETPB), Sardar Gopal Singh Chawla (Chairman Punjabi Sikh Sangat), Ramesh Singh Arora (MPA), Besham Singh (Ex-Pardhan), Dr. Mehmal Singh and Professor Kalian Singh delivered there speeches on the event.
It was stressed upon the Sikh-Muslim friendship and brotherhood. In Pakistan Sikhs have freedom for their worship and Government of Pakistan are taking good care of the Gurdwaras and Shrines. Sikh’s in Pakistan are very happy and enjoying their life freely and according to the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
The celebration was organized to take a good start of the New Year according to the Nanak Shahi calendar. People from different part of the country join the celebration ceremony. At the end Saropa and shields were distributed among the Ragi’s and Granthi’s of the Gurdwara Nankana Sahib and langer was distributed among the guests, sangats and all the people who take part in the celebrations.
